Frequently Asked Questions
How Plok handles screenshot analysis, privacy, permissions, security, and your data.

Privacy and data collection
What data does Plok collect?
When you choose a screenshot for analysis, Plok temporarily processes a secure copy to identify the item and create a find. Plok keeps the resulting find, basic details that connect it to your library, searches you make within the app, feature usage, a private Plok account ID, a notification token if you enable notifications, subscription status, and limited diagnostic information. Plok does not require your name, email address, or password. See the Privacy Policy for the complete list.
Are my screenshots stored on your servers?
Only temporarily. When a screenshot is selected for analysis, a secure, encrypted copy is sent for automated processing. Plok deletes its temporary copy when analysis finishes or fails. A backup cleanup process removes any copy left behind, normally within about two days.
Plok keeps the find it creates and the basic details needed to connect it to your library—not a permanent copy of the original screenshot. Companies that help process screenshots may retain limited security logs under their own terms. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can anyone at Plok or anyone else see my screenshots?
Your screenshots are processed automatically and are never shown to other Plok users. Plok staff review a screenshot only when you deliberately submit it with a support or accuracy report. Service providers may access data only when needed to operate, secure, debug, or support the processing service.
Does Plok access all my photos?
Full Photo Library access lets Plok find screenshots automatically. Plok sends only screenshots selected for analysis to its automated processing services; it does not send your other photos. You can limit or revoke access at any time in iOS Settings.
What analytics does Plok collect?
Plok collects limited information about which screens and features are used and how the app performs. This is connected to a private Plok account ID rather than your name or email address. Plok also receives crash reports and feedback. Your screenshots are not included in ordinary analytics or crash reports.
Does Plok share my data with third parties?
Plok does not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers. It uses service providers to process the screenshots you select, store data securely, deliver notifications, manage subscriptions, understand product usage, and diagnose problems. Each provider receives only the information needed for its role. The provider list names them and explains what each one does.
Can Plok detect sensitive content in my screenshots?
Plok uses automated screening designed to exclude screenshots that contain personal, financial, or medical information from becoming saved finds. Automated screening is not perfect. You can delete your data in the app or contact support if something is classified incorrectly.
Security
How is my data protected?
Plok uses encrypted connections, restricted access, encrypted temporary screenshot storage, and automatic deletion controls.
Is my data encrypted?
Yes. Screenshots are encrypted while they are sent for processing and while Plok temporarily stores them.
Does Plok support Face ID or a passcode lock?
Plok does not currently provide its own Face ID or passcode screen. Your device passcode and iOS security features protect access to the app and its local data.
Who can access my analysis results?
Your personal library belongs to your private Plok account, and your screenshots are never shown to other users. Plok may show other users general information about an item—such as its title, category, or public catalog image—after multiple people have saved it. They do not see your screenshot, account ID, or who saved the item.
Permissions
Why does Plok need Photo Library access?
Photo access lets Plok find new screenshots and select them for analysis. A screenshot selected for analysis is sent securely to Plok’s automated processing services; analysis does not happen only on your device. Plok does not send your other photos.
Why does Plok ask for notification permission?
Notifications can tell you when background analysis finishes and can deliver an optional daily digest. They are optional; results still appear inside Plok if notifications are off.
Does Plok access my camera or location?
No. The Plok mobile app does not request camera or location permission.
How it works
How does screenshot analysis work?
When a screenshot is selected, Plok sends it securely for automated analysis. AI services identify the item, Plok adds useful details, and the result is saved as a find in your private library. Plok then deletes its temporary copy of the screenshot.
Does Plok work in the background?
Yes. With Photo Library permission, Plok can discover screenshots and schedule analysis while the app is not in the foreground, subject to iOS background-execution limits. Notifications are optional.
What types of content can Plok identify?
Plok can identify many products, places, movies, shows, books, music, recipes, events, and other save-worthy things. Automated results can be incomplete or wrong, so check important details before relying on them.
Account and data
Do I need to create an account?
Plok currently creates a pseudonymous device-based account and does not require a name, email address, or password.
What happens if I delete the app?
Uninstalling removes local app data but does not itself request deletion from Plok’s servers or cancel an App Store subscription. Use “Delete my data” in Settings before uninstalling if you want the linked server data deleted.
Can I delete my data from Plok’s servers?
Yes. In Plok, open Settings, find Account, and choose “Delete my data.” This permanently starts deletion of linked active data and provider records. Some protected backups, provider logs, and a deletion-coordination record age out during limited retention windows. Deleting data does not cancel your App Store subscription.
Subscriptions and payments
How are payments handled?
Apple processes App Store payments. RevenueCat helps Plok verify subscriptions and entitlements. Plok does not receive your complete payment-card number.
How do I restore my subscription on a new device?
Use the restore-purchases option in Plok while signed into the same App Store account that made the purchase. Contact support if the entitlement does not appear.
